For those of you who follow me on Facebook and Instagram, you may have noticed I’ve been sharing more quotes recently. Not my own, but those of other people who have resonated with me.

I often tell people that I collect quotes the way some people collect things, and the photo gallery on my phone is full of them. So, I decided I needed to start sharing them for two reasons:

1. Because I need to make room on my phone for all the photos I take.

2. Because someone else might need to hear the same words I needed to hear when I saved them.

I have often heard it said that if you want to be a better writer you should write more, but I’ve also heard it said that if you want to be a better writer you should read more. So, I’ve decided to try to do more of both this year, and I’m inviting you to join me.

Starting today, I’m going to read at least one line of something I want to read and write at least one line about something I want to write, every day.

One line isn’t very much of a commitment at all, but when you’re a single momma, studying to take her nursing boards, and starting her first job as an RN you have to be very realistic and graceful with yourself. I am certain there will be days when I read and I write more, but for now the commitment is simply one line.

Now, I have ideas about what I want to write and I don’t plan to share everything online, but when I do I’ll be including the hashtag #OneLine. I am inviting you to do the same, and to tag me when you do.

And who knows, maybe you’ll share exactly what I'll need to hear one day, and maybe I’ll do the same for you.
