Grace

I've tried to start this post multiple times, but life has been busy and my heart has been too full with everything else, or not passionate enough about this... either way my thoughts are so scattered, like leaves in the wind, and trying to organize them feels like chasing the receipt or plastic bag that was blown from your car, when you opened the door, into the crowded grocery store parking lot.

So here I am, more than 6 months since our last meeting this way, and so much has happened since then.

- I graduated from nursing school and passed my boards.

- I started my first job as an RN and completed the re-certification requirements for my NREMT.

-I helped to judge the Washington America Pageants, which I was a title holder in just 4 years ago.

And all while continuing to do my best to balance work and study with my job as a Sometimes Sunday Momma to 2 of the most amazing people I know.

I'd love to be able to tell you that I did it all while maintaining an immaculately kept apartment and self-care routine, but that wouldn't be honest, and feeding you lies won't help either of us. So instead, I'll tell you this... I did it with as much grace as possible. Grace for my not so little anymore Littles, who are often more concerned about friends or catching up on the latest episodes of their favorite shows, than they are with cleaning up after themselves. And grace for myself... allowing myself to let the dishes sit in the sink or the folded laundry to remain in stacks in a basked for an extra day (or week) while I choose to do yoga, go for a run or hike, read an extra chapter of my current book, or even just spend time watching that show with my Littles.

Because the truth is those dishes and that laundry aren't going to get up and walk away if I don't get to them today, but those moments with my Littles, once gone, are gone forever, and they're not getting younger and neither am I. So Mommas, and Dads, give them grace and give yourself grace too.

In the words of one of my beautiful Sister Queens, "you cannot pour from an empty cup."
